IPTPN SB RAS

 

Larionov Institute of the Physical-Technical Problems of the North of the Siberian Branch of the RAS (IPTPN) is one of the leading scientific institutes in the fields of metals strength and failure at low temperatures, welding technology, material science, energy system of remote North regions, problems of thermotransfer and materials thermophysic properties.

Missions of IPTPN are solving physical and technical problems of transport, energy, building and mining industries under extreme environment of the North and Arctic regions.

IPTPN was established at 1970 by Nikolai Cherskiy, Dr. Sci., Professor, Corresponding member of the USSR AS. IPTPN was a basis of other scientific institutions: Cherskiy Institute of the Mining Affairs of the North (Yakutsk) and Institute of the Oil and Gas Problems (Yakutsk).

IPTPN Environmental test laboratory is open for collaboration and joined research.

Environmental tests of new materials and coatings with and without static or cyclic loads are useful for estimation of product integrity and lifetime under long-time extreme low temperatures.
